The Second Best Pizza I’ve Ever Eaten…

Near Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, a popular day and weekend getaway for us Chicago peeps, Upper Crust Pizzeria is a convenient stop when we’re headed back to the thick crust city. Located on Highway H across from a farm, you’re going to be tempted to think the place is  just there to serve the locals and that it’s probably “ho-hum”, but trust me, the locals (and then some) know about the pizza there. 

Upper Crust Pizzeria specializes in Sicilian style pizzas; they have more seasoning and a lot more cheese on them then your typical pizza. The pizza’s crusts aren’t thin, but they’re also not too thick – which I appreciate – and they’re topped right. (Don’t try to mess with their topping combinations; they won’t let you.) They offer Baja, shrimp, and buffalo chicken Sicilian pizzas just to name three. (Really, there are several and I can’t do them all justice in just one post.) For those of you who don’t care for pizza, they’ve got you covered with a full menu. 

One word of caution, Upper Crust Pizza doesn’t accept credit or debit cards and if you happen by the restaurant right around dinner time, you may have to wait for a table. (-Worth it!) The joint is family owned and they’ve been in business for over 50 years – which is a big deal because let’s face it, it ain’t easy bein’ cheesy. The restaurant Chicagoland restaurant industry is super competitive.

So, when you’re driving home after a long weekend or even if you’re just taking the scenic route through Wisconsin, if you feel that gnawing in your tummy letting you know it’s time for a savory pie, stop at Upper Crust Pizza (262) 279-2233.
