Peter and I used to enjoy heading over to Avanti Caffe in Mount Prospect, IL once in a while. That is, until I decided to embark upon the gluten-free journey.

I think our initial experience with Avanti’s food was at a friend’s housewarming party. Avanti catered the party and OH! The Giant Cannoli! -Filled with a plethora of delicious little cannoli for individual consumption. Obviously, that made an impression. So, off Peter and I went to Avanti – The Caffe. Not being huge fans of Italian food in general (believe it our not), Peter and I were both pleasantly surprised by Avanti’s offerings, especially their sausage pizzas and calzones. 1. Going-out to eat can be challenging, especially if you’re used to going to independently owned restaurants instead of chains. 

2. It’s important to eat a lot of fiber and protein from sources like almonds. (Yes, almonds are high in fiber.)

3. This light and gluten free chicken recipe is delicious! You’ll especially like it if you like Indian food. (Don’t forget to make sure your spices are gluten free! All McCormick brand spices are.)

4. I haven’t lost any weight yet (after 3 months), but the gluten free diet is easier on my digestive system.
